The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering started its functioning along with the establishment of the college in the year 1986.
The department has been established with the firm commitment of developing and producing quality Electrical and Electronic Engineers with high-technical knowledge and good practical basis, combined with leadership skills and decision making capabilities. The faculty in the department is a rich blend of personnel with industrial and professional experience. The dedicated staff members have sound knowledge in emerging areas like control systems, Biomedical Engineering, Non-conventional Energy Sources, Digital Signal Processing, Power electronics applications in power systems etc. The breadth and depth of the research interests of the academic staff ensures a high standard of lecture courses and provides excellent opportunities for challenging and stimulating final year projects .The department boasts of distinguished and dedicated faculty that offers full support to the students to help bring out the best in them.
To be a centre of quality education in electrical engineering & enrich the youth with sound technical knowledge to intellectually power tomorrow’s world in the service of humanity.
To elevate the infrastructural facilities and impart latest technical knowledge and competency to the students, enabling them to take up a successful career in industry, research and academia or as an entrepreneur, thus contributing to the overall development of the society.
Under Graduate Programme
The department offers an undergraduate B Tech. degree programme in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with an intake of 60 students. The curriculum is designed to impart the students with sound technical knowledge and skills for careers in wide range of industries. The course for undergraduate program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering comprises of eight semesters with six courses per semester. These courses typically include electrical machines, power systems, power electronics, control systems, analog and digital communication systems and digital signal processing. Along with technical courses, courses on Industrial management, disaster management and communication are also included.
Post Graduate Programme
The department also offers an M. Tech course in “Power Electronics and Drives” with an intake of 18 students. Power Electronics is an emerging area which is concerned with the application of fast developing electronics into electrical machines and power systems. This PG programme will provide the graduates with the knowledge base and the practical know-how to meet the challenges of the industry. This programme imparts knowledge in the field of power electronics and its application to electrical machines, drives, industrial equipments and power systems. It also gives hands-on experience through practical and project works.
